Oil ChangesAs we continue to rack up the miles in our GTI, especially on our 70 miles-a-day commute and to distant photo shoots, we've had to change the oil more frequently to keep up with maintenance demands. Pennzoil kindly supplied its new Platinum oil line for our GTI. The synthetic motor oil features new technology such as Adaptive Molecules that allow the motor to survive more heat, pressure and higher shearing forces. A special additive in the oil protects against engine wear and prevents deposits forming; perfect for our aging 1.8T.For information: www.pennzoilplatinum.com

 7) To remove the crank pulley, use an impact gun on the four 6mm Allen bolts. The crank pulley has an indexed pattern, so it comes off one way and goes back the same way | 8) Reinstall the new Unorthodox pulleys in reverse order, starting with the crank. For the alternator pulley, re-use the lock washer. DRS suggest using medium strength Loctite on all bolts. Torque to 15 lb/ft. Remember to faster all the nuts and bolts at only half strength before completely tightening them for the best results | |
 | 9) To fasten the new belt (we recommend you don't use the old belt), put it over the alternator first because it's the highest pulley. Wrap it around the A/C pulley and then the rest. Release the belt tensioner using the same 15mm wrench and slip it over the alternator pulley, et voila! | |
