The Eagle F1 GS-D3 is part of Goodyear's premier Eagle F1 series. While the Fiorano and the Supercar models are OE on some of the world's fastest cars, the GS-D3 is not without its highlights. It's a milder version of its two big brothers and is for people who want more performance from their stock or modified vehicles. With a shoulder-to-shoulder OneTRED design, it's said to have superior dry road cornering traction and enhanced steering response. Wet traction is above average thanks to the sweeping aquachannel grooves. The F1 finished third last year but did even better this time around and is our top max performance tire for 2005. It did it by being excellent in the wet and above-average in the dry.
Driver's Comments
DRY
Don: I liked the control of this tire and its braking but didn't like it in the transition because it was hard to control at high speed but was good around the skidpad at medium speed. It's not the best for confidence but it's pretty good.
Will: This tire was awesome for acceleration and braking. Mid-skidpan isn't as impressive as the others, so ultimate grip is not quite there but braking and traction offered a dramatic improvement over the previous tires. It gave good feedback and had plenty of control.
WET
Don: This is the best tire so far, with superior grip. I didn't like the lack of feedback and it would snap when it passed the limit, but the limit was very high. It feels really good and has much more grip.
Will: Very impressive grip. It was stable, and had good turn-in. It was good everywhere, particularly under acceleration. The tire was better at everything than anything before it.
