This is one of only two tires in the High Performance class. Fuzion is a subsidiary of Bridgestone whose products are aimed at the sport compact market. The ZRi is rated as an ultra high performance tire developed with a silica-reinforced tread compound that increases grip, and a tread design that evacuates water for wet traction. To be honest, we didn't have high expectations for this tire since it's really outgunned by its more expensive competitors. However, it finished a very respectable fifth overall, just behind its big brother from Bridgestone and is our recommended Budget Choice. It doesn't excel at anything but it's a good all-around performer.
Driver's Comments
DRY
Don: This felt similar in the dry to the vredestein and Hankook, with slightly more grip but not as good under braking. It was very controllable and predictable.
Will: It had average grip but seemed to have more in the skidpad than in transition. Once it was in a steady state it was very good but changing direction wasn't the best. It's not awesome anywhere but was predictable.
WET
Don: This tire pushed a lot and didn't feel good under braking. There was reasonable grip but not great feedback. You could go beyond the limit of adhesion easily, with either the brakes or throttle.
Will: This being the first tire it's hard to call, but it turns better than the OE control tire and though it would lose grip quicker at the rear under throttle it was more responsive.
