As promised, here are some more photos and details on the EuroCode Tuning 1.8T upgrade featuring a front-mount intercooler (FMIC,) a K04 turbo and the ancillary components. Check out this video showing the Audi A4 on the dyno (Apple Quicktime required.)
The K04 turbo, shown here minus the extra polishing, has become the mainstay of the VAG-tuning industry. | The large EuroCode Tuning front-mount intercooler dwarfs the side-mounted factory part. | Here is the intercooler shown with the custom-made tubing and silicon connectors. |
The Revo Technik programmer allows one to switch engine-management software without removing the chip. | Here is the Audi A4 on the lift before it went under the knife so to speak. | Here is the old K03 turbo shown in situ with its cast iron manifold and cat downpipe. |
Here is an old spark plug shown along side a new triple-electrode plug supplied in the K04 upgrade kit. | On longitudinal engines, the turbo can come out the top of the engine bay. | The turbo and manifold are removed, and now it's time for the downpipe. |
The Jet Hot-coated manifold awaits the new polished K04 turbo. | The pipe can also come out the top once the turbo and manifold have been removed. | Here is the new turbo, manifold and downpipe shown installed. The turbo has been polished, and the manifold prepped with a high-temp ceramic coating. |
As mentioned in the article, a little bit of the grille is cut away on the back side, but that's not a problem as it's hidden from view. | Here the guys from EuroCode and Harman Motive run the Audi through the paces on a chassis dyno. | Click on the graph to see a larger version of a EuroCode-built car on the dyno. |
