With the unique four-wheel drive traction of its new 660hp FF V12 model, Ferrari has embarked on a number of stunts to emphasize the high levels of grip it affords the sports car in the most severe conditions. Part of this campaign recently involved its Scuderia Ferrari F1 drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, taking to the snow-capped mountains of Madonna di Campiglio, which are more accustomed to hosting alpine skiing champions for World Cup downhill races. However, this time the slopes provided the backdrop to a parallel slalom race using the Ferrari FF.
The two Ferrari drivers went head-to-head through the gates at the wheel of two FFs. In their hands, the latest Ferrari proved to be entertaining on the demanding hills, as well as in changes of direction on the downhill slalom course.
Fernando and Felipe were helped in handling the 660hp V12 in this low grip environment thanks to the integral 4WD traction system that deals with the constantly changing conditions by varying the amount of torque available to each wheel independently.
The race ended in a dead heat and Alonso could not hide his enthusiasm: “It’s incredible how easy it is to drive the FF even on a such a demanding surface and, at the same time, how much performance you can reach in it.”
Massa was of a similar opinion: “the most incredible thing about the car is the fact there is no need to compromise performance and usability, whatever the driving environment,” reckoned the Brazilian. “And on top of that, it’s perfect for everyday use with the whole family in the car.”
