Going on sale in March 2012, the new Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet will offer drivers the option to enjoy the dynamic qualities and iconic design of the 911 Coupe with the added versatility offered by its folding convertible roof.
The Cabriolet shares its high tech aluminum-steel body with the Coupe, but with the addition of an all-new, unique hood.
When raised, the hood ensures the iconic 911 roofline is retained. Lightweight magnesium components in the hood frame ensure reduced weight for increased responsiveness, lower fuel consumption and greater comfort. As with the Coupe, the new Cabriolet is significantly lighter than its predecessor.
The new 911 Cabriolet models offer the same line-up of rear-mounted, flat-six engines as the Coupé equivalents. The 911 Carrera Cabriolet features a 3.4-liter engine generating 350hp, driving the rear wheels through a seven-speed manual transmission.
The Carrera S Cabriolet offers a 3.8-liter engine developing 400hp, also coupled to a seven-speed manual transmission as standard. The 911 Carrera Cabriolet also offers the seven-speed Porsche PDK double-clutch transmission as an option, delivering lower fuel consumption and shorter acceleration times.
The 911 Carrera Cabriolet will go on sale in Spring.
