Ken Block’s Gymkhana World Tour finished on Saturday at it’s third and final stop in Melbourne, Australia. This marked the end of the successful summer tour that took Block and his gymkhana talents around the globe.
Bringing the driving style of his Gymkhana videos directly to the fans was Block’s vision from the start and he succeeded in doing so at every stop along the way.
“This tour has been amazing,” Block said. “Every city we visited was great and the fans were super enthusiastic about what I’m doing. I’m still stoked that we put this tour together and I was able to take what I do on YouTube and make it live for the fans.
“Gymkhana on video is a great way to showcase what I can do with my car, but throwing down in front of the fans is way more intense since they get to feel it with all their senses. The sound of the exhaust, the tire smoke, the screaming fans, the whole experience is great.
“Ending the tour here in Melbourne was rad because they’ve got a great appreciation for proper hooning! Hopefully I’ll be able to put together another tour next year and bring it to even more places across the globe.”
While in Melbourne, block gave several lucky fans ride-alongs in his Ford Fiesta Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle (HFHV). He also scared FMX rider Blake “Bilko” Williams as well as Bliss from Australian hip-hop duo Bliss and Eso.
Block was joined on the tour by pro FMX riders “Bilko” Williams, Nate Adams and Adam Jones, while Australian V8 Supercar drivers Jamie Whincup, Will Davison, Mark Winterbottom also turned up to enjoy the action, with Ken getting behind the wheel of a Ford FPV V8 Supercar. In return, Block got to ride along with Top Gear Australia’s “The Stig”, Mark Winterbottom and Will Davison to experience a V8 Supercar in the hands of experts.
While the Melbourne stop of his World Tour marks the end of Block’s summer gymkhana excitement, Block and the Monster World Rally Team will be in action on Rally Australia, September 9-11 in Coffs Harbour, Australia.
