To coincide with the DTM German touring car race in Shanghai, China, Audi presented a GT4 concept based on the Audi TT.
Developed by both the Technical Development and Production divisions of Audi as well as quattro GmbH, the TT GT4 is intended to extend Audi’s new modular customer sport program beyond 2012.
With the production-based TT GT4, Audi wants to offer potential customers a base option for affordable motorsport.
The vehicle’s platform is a motorsport body with a rollcage, fuel cell and further modifications, all of which will be identical in all customer versions.
The car will be equipped with a TFSI engine delivering about 340hp. The front and rear aprons as well as the rear wing are derived from the production Audi TT RS. The hood, doors and tailgate are made from reinforced carbon fiber, while the windows are plastic. The TT is fitted with a S-tronic transmission with a differential lock, a modified production suspension that incorporates adjustable dampers plus 18x9.5” wheels.
The Audi TT GT4 is planned to sell for about 120,000 euros in both the European and Asian markets.
Five-time Le Mans winner Frank Biela did some demo laps in the Audi TT GT4 on the street circuit in Shanghai to demonstrate the car’s ability.
