Citroën has released details of a new concept design that will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Without denying the appeal of conventional coupes, the DS High Rider represents a vision of the future, combining compact dimensions with generous internal space, performance, sophisticated style and quality.
Unlike traditional four-seater coupes, the DS HIGH RIDER is compact and muscular. Its character is expressed with a sleek flowing windscreen that goes over the heads of front occupants – helping give the illusion of a bright and spacious cabin. The side windows connect the A-pillars to the sloping roofline of the rear.
The DS High Rider sports 19” wheels and its front end is purposeful with gaping air intakes, long sharp headlights and defined ridges along the hood.
The concept shows off some luxury its glossy golden paintwork and brushed chrome trim that accentuates the car’s lines. The roof is covered with a coated textile material.
The concept will also be environmentally friendly with an advanced hybrid diesel drivetrain. It combines a refined HDi DPFS engine with an electric motor located on the rear axle. The hybrid platform enables the car to combine the fuel efficiency and power of an HDi diesel engine with the ecological benefits of a new generation electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle). Under certain conditions, both engines combine to deliver additional power with more torque transmitted to the rear wheels.
Audi A8 hybrid
Audi's big and bad A8 luxury sedan just got greener. At the Geneva Motor Show, Audi debuted an A8 with a 2.0TFSI and an electric power unit. The more eco-friendly big sedan develops around 245hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, making it still a quick cruiser. The real genius of this car is the gas mileage. Where most A8 would see less than 20mpg, this one can achieve up to 45.6mpg.
The A8 concept car is a full hybrid. This means that it can be propelled by either the gasoline engine or the electric motor alone - or by the combined power of both. During coasting or braking, the electric motor acts as a generator that converts kinetic into electric energy and recharges the battery. The hybrid drive can propel the car on electric power alone at up to 40mph with a range of over a mile - enough for stop-and-go traffic.
