Another impressive unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show was Aston Martin’s newest four-seater called the Rapide. It’s Aston Martin’s first four-door sports car and according to Aston, it still “encapsulates core values of Power, Beauty and Soul.”
All four doors open like swan wings and reveal front and rear bucket seats. There’s also plenty of room for luggage in the trunk to fit sports bags, even a set of skis according to Aston. The rear has been designed to be as engaging to the driving experience as the front with face-level heating and air-condition and clear line of sight.
Under the hood, the Rapide houses a 6.0 liter V12 pushing out 470hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. A specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission is standard, allowing the driver to change gear automatically or manually via the steering column-mounted paddles.
The Rapide has come a long way from its original concept in ’06 at the Detroit Auto Show. In a little over two years, the car is now a reality and will be added to the lineup with the DBS, DB9 and Vantage.
