Hamann Motorsport is renowned for its BMW tuning and for refining exotics from Ferrari, etc. But sometimes the Laupheim-based technicians move off the beaten track and devote themselves to something unexpected - in this case, the new Fiat 500, currently unavailable in North America.
The Hamann technicians started with enthusiasm for the cool retro sports car and developed the extensive Hamann sportive tuning program. Striking 17" rims and a lively flag pattern optically emphasize the racy character of this little Italian. The strong sound of the Hamann exhaust system for the 1.4 liter engine underlines this acoustically. A performance option for the diesel motor, as well as progressive springs and a new brake system round out the racey conversion.
The HM sportivo I wheel was fiished in matte black and has a diamond-polished outer edge. Offered in 17x7" Hamann recommends 195/40-R17 or 215/35-R17 tires. The Hamann lowering springs lead to a further improvement in handling and ensures the vehicle is lowered by 30mm.
The sport exhaust was devised for the 1.4 liter engine and includes a muffler with two round tailpipes made of high-grade steel, a pre-muffler with metal catalyst and a sport manifold. All components can also be obtained individually.
Also for this model, Hamann developed a braking system for improved deceleration. The set consists of drilled front brake rotors (280mm) with red four-piston calipers and and steel brake lines. The rear brakes can be upgraded with 240mm discs as well.
The increased performance for the 1.3 Multijet 16v diesel model means that after the software is re-programmed, the motor returns 90hp at 4000rpm and 170 lb-ft at 1750rpm.
