'03 BMW 5-SeriesForget The E-39, the new BMW 5-Series Will Change Everything.Code-named the E-60, the '03 5-Series will apparently share more than the front headlight treatment with the new 7-Series. The new 5 will be built off a modified 7-Series chassis, enabling more cargo and trunk space. The chassis may also get some lines from the X5 in the form of all-wheel drive. Powerplant selections are rumored to range from a 140hp four-cylinder engine to a revamped V-8 producing 450 hp-in the M5, of course. Chances are, the four-cylinder version will never make it to the States, but chances are even greater that no one will care. The E-60 will more than likely start making its car show rounds sometime in late 2002.
Facts And RumorsBMW has designed a new CSL M3. The M3 is 440 pounds lighter than stock, the engine produces 370hp, and the redline is upped to 8,200rpm. Unfortunately, BMW says the car will be too expensive to manufacture.

Aston Martin vs. BMW vs. PorscheHenry Fisker, designer of the BMW Z8, has recently been lured away from BMW's California-based Designworks team by Ford. Not only will Fisker head up Ford's London-based Design Studio, but Ford has also named Fisker the Design Director for Aston Martin. Fisker's next project? Rumor is, Aston Martin's latest project is an entry-level car designed to target the Porsche 911. If anyone can battle Porsche for sales in the $85,000 category, it would be Fisker. Fisker's move from BMW follows yet another blow to BMW since designer Michael Maurer left BMW's design team in order to lead Saab's design house.
