Remove the decklid liner panel by first pulling off the trunk latch boot and then pulling the panel free. |
The template is then taped... The template is then taped in place on the decklid. Since this wing was designed specifically for the TT, ATS went to the trouble of designing the template so that it matched up with the decklid perfectly. The drilling points are clearly marked, and the instructions tell you what size the holes need to be. |
The holes are then drilled... The holes are then drilled to the appropriate size. Three holes are drilled on the passengers side to allow the brake light wiring to pass through. |
A grommet is used to ensure... A grommet is used to ensure a proper seal between the wiring, the wiring hole, and the decklid. |
After the perches have been... After the perches have been cleaned with alcohol to remove anything that would prevent total adhesion, apply the included self-adhesive gaskets on the bottom of each perch. |
The wing is then put in position... The wing is then put in position so that the wiring may be run. Do not remove the backing on the gaskets yet. |
The backing on the gaskets... The backing on the gaskets is then removed and the wiring is pulled taut. Now the wing is secured to the decklid using the included fasteners. |
To wire the wings brake... To wire the wings brake light into the braking system, you must tap into the third brake light. The law allows for only one high-mount brake light, so disconnect the factory harness, and then tap into the wiring that leads to it using the included wire taps and spades. |
Check to make sure that the... Check to make sure that the brake light works before you reinstall the decklid liner panel and trunk latch boot and your done with the wing. |
To start the splitter installation,... To start the splitter installation, the contact surfaces on each splitter have to be prepared. First, carefully clean the area of the urethane splitters where the 3M adhesive tape will be applied (Dont scratch the paint.MAX). |
The area is then cleaned with... The area is then cleaned with alcohol to remove contaminants. The included adhesion promoter is used prior to installation of the double-sided tape. |
Apply the 3M tape to the edges... Apply the 3M tape to the edges of the splitters. |
To install the rear splitters,... To install the rear splitters, the rear wheels must be removed. |
Remove the lower outside screw... Remove the lower outside screw that holds the fender liner in place. |
Clean the part of the bumper... Clean the part of the bumper that the splitter will attach to with alcohol and 3M adhesion promoter. |

Once in position, remove the... Once in position, remove the backing and push the splitter snugly against the bumper. |
The screw that was removed... The screw that was removed from the fenderwell liner is then used to secure the splitter. Reinstall the wheels, and lower the car. |
Installation of the front... Installation of the front splitters is much the same as the rear. For whatever side you are working on, you will need to turn the wheels in the opposite direction. Remove the lower outside screw from the fenderwell liner, and clean the bumper. |
Secure the splitter to the... Secure the splitter to the bumper with the 3M tape. |
Use the screw from the fenderwell... Use the screw from the fenderwell liner to attach the splitter to the fenderwell. |
Audis TT is probably one of the most radically designed cars to ever go from concept to showroom floor. Looking as though it is straight out of a sci-fi movie, the car garners a love it, or leave it attitude. Its design turns heads, even if those heads disdain the TTs appearance or admire it. The TTs design queues have even overflowed into other marketsfor example, the new Kobe shoe from Adidas was designed by the same team that designed the TT in Audis California-based design studio.
Though the TT has a fairly loyal following, aftermarket body parts arent nearly as abundant as they are for the Golf, Jetta, and Beetle, all of which share the same platform as the TT. That being said, there are a few select companies that have taken on the task of making the TT stand out with an aero package. ATS Design is one such company. ATS has taken a route that many would agree is the best. Rather than trying to radically modify the clean, unique lines of the TT, ATS has developed a body kit and rear deck spoiler that add to the original designs ocular enticement.
The kit consists of four urethane splitters that go on the lower corners of each bumper and a rear wing that has billet-aluminum perches, and a third brake light that sits in the body of the urethane wing. Installation of the splitters is as easy as applying double-sided tape and securing screws in the fenderwells.
The wing installation requires minor wiring and drilling through the decklid with the included template. Not only is there a template included, but all the necessary hardware, including installation instructions, are also part of the package. We spent a couple of hours at the ATS shop and watched them install the flawless-fitting kit on a 2000 TT. Follow along as this TT goes from blah to blam.
