Photochop Challenge 8 - Audi R8

Last month we printed in eurotuner magazine the top entries from our seventh Photochop Challenge to create a wild Mini Clubman, as well as putting all the entries online at eurotuner.com This time, we're giving you a photo of the Audi R8 supercar to manipulate as you wish.

The R8 is a fascinating vehicle. The all-wheel drive sportscar shares its architecture with the Lamborghini Gallardo and uses a number of powerplants, from the RS4's 4.2 V8 to the latest 5.2 liter V10. There was even a V12 TDI concept and the car is currently appearing in European GT races in the GT3 category. Whatever the version, this sexy supercar stirs emotions wherever it appears, particularly since it offers some interesting design elements, such as the contrasting vertical panel behind the front door. It also features very upright grilles for such an otherwise sleek automobile. So after the cutesy Clubman, we thought it might be fun to have a go with your Photoshop skills on the R8.

Obviously, we'd love to see some widebody versions, and hopefully somebody will attempt an old skool rendition with Moondiscs and pastel paint. The car already looks great as a GT3 racer, but how about turning it into a GT1 or something more fanciful? Perhaps you could stretch it and add four doors? And, naturally, we'd love to see a convertible or speedster. You can change the color, add wheels, spoilers, widebody, seats, lights or stickers, even change the background, whatever turns you on.

Once again, the only limit is your imagination and Photoshop skills. And don't be afraid to have a go, even if you've never done it before. Every time we've run a Challenge, a photochop virgin always makes it into the top ten. We're constantly amazed at how good many of the first-time chops have been, proving you don't need years of experience to have a go.

Because we like to reward effort, we've again joined forces with DC Shoes to donate another pair of its awesome Pro Spec 1.0 competition driving shoes to the best effort. These cost around $200 in stores or online, but we'll award a pair to the photochop entry selected by Derek Jenkins (head of design at Mazda NA and formerly with VWoA) as the most creative.

The FIA-approved Pro Spec comes in Royal blue and was developed for use by professional drivers like DC Shoes' Ken Block; co-founder of the premier skate shoe company, and a Subaru rally driver - if you haven't already seen it, check out the link to his latest Subaru gymkhana driving video on the blogs page here at eurotuner.com - it's one of the wildest driving videos you'll ever see.

Since we're giving away a pair of Pro Specs, let us know your shoe size when you submit your entry. Although we have to point out for legal reasons, this isn't a competition. It's a challenge, and just for fun.

Get your entries to us by 11/16/09 - that gives you more than eight weeks after this issue goes on sale to create something sensational.

You can email your entries to eurotuner@sorc.com but please ensure your images are a minimum of 500Kb at 300dpi, or we won't be able to print them. However, they can't be too big either, or they'll jam our email system. So they shouldn't be more than 2Mb files. If they exceed this limit, please copy them to a CD and mail it to us at Photochop, eurotuner magazine, 6420 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048.

One word of warning; some email servers (such as Hotmail, etc) sometimes automatically compress attachments. So please check the size of your image won't be reduced when your send it to us. You could try emailing it to yourself or a friend beforehand to verify.

We also require extra information along with your photochop image. Please ensure we have your full name, city you live in and your shoe size. We also need a list of the mods you've carried out to the R8 - this is very important if you win.

When emailing us, please put your name as the subject of the email (ie, Andrew Thorn R8 Photochop) and do the same for the name of your jpeg image (ie, andrewthornR8.jpg). This will help us identify your image and collate your details when it comes time to select the shortlist for publication.

Remember, this Photochop Challenge is just for fun, so there are none of the usual competition rules. You can be a professional or amateur - you can even have a go with pen and paper if technology escapes you. You can even enter more than once. All entries will appear online, with our favorites being printed in a future issue. However, your entry will be taken as permission to reproduce your artwork in the magazine, online and in other media. So have a go and we look forward to seeing your artwork.
