With the array of exterior mods, the motor couldn't remain stock. While a VR6 puts out respectable power, it does better with forced induction. VF Engineering took care of this chore, adding its blower and intercooler along the way. The upgrade has been completed for a while now and hasn't hit any major snags, with the exception of a snafu with the fuel/air ratio. That aside, the VR6 pushes out 305hp and 265 lb/ft - enough to get it to and from the eleven shows it's won to date!
Before the interior was reworked, it previously had red felt seats. However, it now features red hide, which stretches to the dash and virtually every other surface, including the roof. You may also notice the defrost vents were removed from under the windscreen in the name of smootherocity. The custom rollcage in the rear was painted to match the leather. Since the rear seats had been removed when JS Custom Interiors started the install, they fabricated a new rear, fitting a centralized child seat along with PlayStation steering wheel and pedals. If the middle seat is a tribute to family values, the rivet holes in the seats are a tribute to '50s racers.
As you'd expect just by looking at it, the ICE is anything but subtle. Take the 30" monitor hinged from the roof, for example. That could never be described as subtle. Neither could the four 12" subs in the rear bulkhead. However, the trunk is almost restrained by comparison, with a single Memphis Belle amp mounted in a sea of black glassfiber. It's a dramatic statement that underscores the bold character of this Jetta. And we know there are people reading this who hate everything this car represents, but we'd ask you to open your mind a little and appreciate its audacity. To be honest, we thought it would take real balls to build a Jetta this wild, although we were wrong in Sandra's case.
