Once the engine detail was done, Gary pieced together a supercharger for the car. He didn't buy a kit but assembled one with parts he found on vwvortex.com, along with a Vortech V1-S supercharger that was being passed around his group of friends. After a brief call to C2 Motorsports, Gary also procured some software and #24 injectors. The end result is an impressive 244hp at the wheels and 218 lb-ft of torque.
The fun doesn't stop there though. Gary also used a tan leather GLX interior, the black dashboard and all the power amenities that the GLX offered, and swapped them into his car. From there he went to work on the stereo. He enlisted help from one of his friends, Derek Scott, who does a lot of work for people in the automotive industry. Derek helps build cars for companies like MB Quart. He helped Gary with the stereo install, which utilizes MB Quart component speakers and subwoofers, an Alpine CDA-9815 head unit and Xtant amplifiers.
All in all, Gary has built one hell of a car, and we're pretty sure by now you've put together what we meant when we said "there are people who build cars." You may ask why go to so much trouble, and we'll answer with a quote from Gary: "It's possibly one of the most rewarding ways to build a car; you definitely appreciate the work and dedication once it's done." Gary is a car guy, and this was his story.
