Cool cars, hip crowd, disco sounds, and a shower of aftermarket partssound familiar? The third show of the Hot Import Nights 2001 season was held at the San Mateo County Expo Center on April 28. Indoors and out, thousands of spectators walked around the venue for a glimpse of some of the hottest tricked-out Euros this side of the pond. What set this NorCal event apart from the previous two HIN shows at Del Mar and Atlantic City was that it was held during sunlight hoursthe first NorCal Hot Import Daze eventleaving the vampires at home and showgoers with their Saturday nights open for off-the-wall debauchery we cant quite print.
Going back to the show though, it was all about NorCal MRydes being dressed to impress. Filling Arena M, the Euro-only designated area of HIN, were Euros from across the boardeverything from Mk4 Jettas to E-46 BMWs were present. Some were even shocked to find a dropped Volvo station wagon parked outside. At the Meguiars booth, however, Jason Campbells Rytek-racing A4 took the spotlight. With a complete turbo upgrade and ICE system, its no wonder this Euro has been setting an award- winning standard on the show circuit. Also on display was Jon Peks C-class. The turbocharged Mercedes was found at the Valvoline booth, impressively outfitted with superior sound components.
Now whats an import show without some import models? Girls were abundant throughout the show, from Aiko Tanaka to the always popular Sasha Singleton. Miss Hot Import Nights, Cherie Roberts, was busy signing autographs for all her biggest fans. For the ladies though, super-cutie Paul Walker, star of Universals The Fast and the Furious, tirelessly signed posters to promote his latest film. With a little dash of Hollywood added to the usual wild cars, hot girls, and excited crowd of our import culture, Hot Import Daze San Mateo proved to be as glamorous and glitzy as a new movie premiere. See you at the next HIN!
