The Essen Motor Show that takes place in Germany every year is possibly THE crucial pilgrimage every Euro fan should attend. With 14 halls crammed full of mouthwatering modified motors, its well worth the effort. Oh, and there's pole dancing at the show as well, in case you needed another incentive. And it wouldn't be Essen without a few girls in body paint!
In past years there's always been one stand-out car at the show - the car every tuner has to have. This year was different, with many makes vying for attention, and most of them top-end cars like the Mercedes CLS and new S-Class, the M5, Porsche 997 and even Aston Martins were more numerous than ever.
You can read the highlights of the show in eurotuner's March issue. This will include favorites such as Hartge's BMW 1-Series with an M5 V8 under the hood, plus a new E90 330i with a 550hp version of the latest M5's V10 squeezed in the front, complete with seven-speed SMG gearbox. Then there was a previous generation Audi A3 with a 500hp twin-turbo RS4 motor feeding power to the rear wheels. And we even found a 350hp motorsport-themed Volvo S40. Its widebody was finished in matt blue paint and the car boasted a full cage inside.
Techart impressed us with styling for the new Cayman and a widebody for the new Boxster that gives the car real muscle. But Essen isn't all high-end cars and dancing girls. We found a Golf wagon five cylinder TDI endurance racer, and even a six cylinder BMW-powered motorcycle.
It's a wild and wacky show with something for everybody, so don't miss the March 2006 issue of eurotuner.
