Welcome back to eurotuner for the month of February. For those of you that don't already know it, we changed the name of our European car tuning magazine just months prior to the largest gathering of automotive and tire industry professionals in the world... the SEMA show. The trip to "Sin City" offered several unique marketing opportunities for eurotuner-the most important being name recognition. For those of you not familiar with the SEMA show a little background information is in order.
SEMA stands for "Specialty Equipment Marketing Association." The SEMA show itself is an annual gathering of automotive business professionals from around the world. This premiere car tuning gala is housed each year within the 1,120,000 square-feet of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the last week of October and runs through the first few days of November. The event is only open to trade professionals and highlights the latest and greatest in automotive performance products and accessories. This is where the tuning industry gathers to find out about new product introductions, cross-marketing opportunities, and new trends and technologies from some 6,200 vendors in attendance.
Like I mentioned prior, the show offered several unique marketing opportunities for eurotuner. The week included fact and photography gathering time for our "40 New Performance Products From SEMA" article starting on page 62 of this issue. Everything from new tire designs and sizes to turbocharging kits and aero-styling packages can be found in this story.
We were also at SEMA to meet with a variety of European car parts manufacturers and tuners to discuss the new youth market that we represent. And no trip to SEMA would be complete without a little party action. Besides, Halloween happened to fall in the middle of SEMA! Needless to say, that night was filled with fun and adventure!
The road to SEMA begins months prior to the show with manufacturers and tuners preparing incredible display vehicles. The best of which can be found starting on page 58 as part of our "Perfect 10" article featuring our picks for the top ten European cars in attendance.
Don't thank us for all our hard work at SEMA... it's our job. We were there as your eyes and ears and, although our feet still hurt and we're that much closer to needing liver transplants, we'd do it again. Until next month, enjoy!
